Phoenix Suns vs the Denver Nuggets April 1, 2008
On April 1, 2008 the NBA Phoenix Suns came up short against the Denver Nuggets and lost 126-120 at Pepsi Center in Denver. There were many controversial referee calls against the Suns and many Suns team members felt that made the difference.

The Phoenix Suns faced off against the Denver Nuggets on April 1, 2008 after staging a stunning comeback last night against the same team. On April 1, 2008, however the Suns came up short against the Nuggets and lost 126-120.

Allen Iverson scored 31 points to allow the Nuggets to, for the time being, get the last playoff spot in the West. The last few minutes of the contest was particularly exciting as the teams were very close. Many team members contributed to the win in the Nuggets lineup. Carmelo Anthony and Marcus Camby for instance both had a very good night and with just 37 seconds left in the game, Camby successfully executed a jumper to allow the Nugget to regained the lead, 122-120. They never lost the lead again.

Amare Stoudemire and Steve Nash both had big nights for the Suns with Nash having a record 18 assists on the night. Gordan Giricek contributed 16 points and Shaquille O'Neal also contributed. However the emotions on both teams were high as this was an important game in the very close West race. Some on the Suns felt the officiating was unfairly going against them. Suns assistant Dan D'Antoni received a technical foul yesterday while playing the same Nuggets team, his first in 3 years in the NBA. Raja Bell was ejected in the third quarter for a technical foul after he disagreed with a referee's call and laughed afterwards. Many on the Suns team say they are being treated unfairly by the referees and this is what made the difference in the outcome of the game. The Suns face off against Minnesota on Friday April 4, 2008.
