NBA Rockets and Suns April 11, 2008 The NBA Phoenix Suns loss to the Houston Rockets on April 11, 2008 with a score of 90-101. The loss was important in that it now is very unlikely that the Suns will be able to get a home court advantage in the playoffs.
The NBA Phoenix Suns loss to the Houston Rockets in a game where the Suns struggled throughout save for the first 4 minutes of the game when they were up 13-1. Tracy McGrady had 22 points, Luis Scola added 19 points and even rookie Carl Landry had 14 points to help secure the Rocket's win. With this win, the Rockets are now 1 1/2 games ahead of the Suns in the Western Conference. The Suns committed 15 turnovers while the Rockets only 5. One of the oldest active players in the NBA league at 40 years old, Dikembe Mutombo, faced off in center for the Rockets against the 36 year old youngster Shaquille O'Neal for the Suns.
The Suns seemed somewhat unmotivated throughout much of the game. Their shooting was also not very accurate. Even so,
Amare Stoudemire scored 37 points and Shaquille O'Neal had 16 points for the night. Steve Nash was only able to contribute 9 assists but was only able to score 6 points. The Suns were held to their second lowest point total this season.
The Suns are now unlikely to gain home court in the playoffs and the top spot in the Pacific Division has basically vanished as LA Lakers won their game recently. Nonetheless, many anticipate a refocused effort heading into the playoffs.
